I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

I have two ginger cats, both are male. Macavity is 11 and Pumpkin is 3. Both have very strong personalities.

My son raises chickens and this young kitten appeared out of now where one afternoon. My son saw the tail up following the chickens around. He didn't give it much thought because he figured it was the neighbors kitten. He discovered the kitten in the henhouse nestled in the hay with one of the chickens. He put it outside and shooed it away. Only to find it there in the morning, so he called the neighbor who said they didn't have any kittens.
The kitten did live long in the henhouse because once my grandson saw the kitten he became a member of the family. His name is Tom, he still hangs out with the chickens during the day but comes inside to get dinner and sleep with CJ.

We had 3 sets of encyclopedias, 2 newspapers daily, one on Sunday. We didn't have many magazines and very few books.

So, I read a lot... just not much that was fluff or gossip.

I remember Prince Valiant. I like some political cartoons.

kare. Get a ski pole. It is what I use in winter can dig into snow and ice. Shows me snow depth and helps me have good footing on ice. Found mine years ago in the local Good Will store for cheap price.

IMHO, The weather is less predictable than 50 years ago. Regardless, there are cycles.

We have had brutal winds this week, some snow, 16°F right now. The cold is important to kill off the nasties and snow in the mountains will help our streams come summer.

I got a cane for walking but it won't help with ice.

I'm very concerned that more experienced people are being replaced in every dynamic of our society and that more and more incidents will occur. I'm at a loss as to why neither of their radar detected the other's presence. And how much the radio chatter was a distraction.

I am very sorry for all involved, their lives were taken too soon.
As I write a response to you a private medical transport plane crashed in Philadelphia Friday evening. The first responders are dealing with a fire as the result of the crash. Did you know there was a small plane crash last week in California and another one in Nevada.

My family buried secrets. I'll never know the answers to at least two events that apparently traumatized me as a child. I'm still bitter about that. Yes, I know I should let go; but, they colored my life for most of it.

Unfortunately, I do the same.

Just a Color Away From Perfect

Write about an adult coloring book.

Hi!

I like to color. I have some coloring books. One is mandalas, one is wildflowers which is a book to identify different wildflowers, one is stained glass designs, somewhere I have a biology one for identification of different biological species. I also have a bird book about how to build birds that fly like paper airplanes only different species of birds and of course you have to color them because they are made from the scratch.

Coloring can be soothing if you are stressed. I like the ones about identifying species of any type because you learn as you color.

I prefer ink coloring pencils, but I have crayons and colored pencil sets too.

Have a great day. The dogs and I are still house bound because although the weather is warmer and easier to deal with. The house and driveway are ringed with deep ice, which is difficult to navigate, although I do travel across it to fill the bird feeders.
