A blog about music from my unique perspective (also a spot for some poetry I’ve written) |
A blog, generally about music, usually for projects hosted by Jeff . I may also write about the 48-Hour Media Prompt Challenge if I don't feel like writing a story or poem inspired by the given song. Other bits of poetry or different topics of discussion might end up here as well. |
My third track is a cover by Imagine Dragons, of Bob Marley's Three Little Birds. Though no covers have ever been officially released by the band, they performed many different ones in their early days of playing at bars and casinos around Las Vegas. I doubt this mellow track was on their setlist, however. The members of ID often reminisce about how they developed their "big band" sound as a way to grab the attention of carousing crowds who usually didn't blink an eye at them. In more recent times, ID plays this song in the acoustic set of their live shows. Lead singer Dan Reynolds tells how he likes to sing it to his kids as a lullaby. It became so ubiquitous at shows, it was a fan joke. Fans would have preferred hearing a deep cut from ID's own catalog than this. But I think it's a sweet little thing to throw in by way of transition. There are dozens of videos available of ID covering Three Little Birds, and I don't have time right now to determine which one is best quality. At some point I'll probably add it to my own playlist. In the meantime, enjoy. Words: 202. |
