We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life. |
“There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .” ― Charles Spurgeon “Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.” ― C. H. Spurgeon “Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.” ― Charles Haddon Spurgeon “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.” ― Charles Spurgeon “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” ― Charles Spurgeon “Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.” ― Charles Spurgeon “When your will is God's will, you will have your will.” ― Charles Spurgeon https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/2876959.Charles_Haddon_Spurgeon (Philippians 2:13, KJV) |
The new year gives us time to think, to pause, and see the future's hope. The days ahead pass 'fore you blink. They all are washed by God-blest soap. The hope is in a strength beyond our human efforts to be good. The Lord of All by saving bond makes right what humans never could. This year in hope by day and night gives time for growth, and wisdom brings. The past in all its earthbound plight cannot define the soul, that sings. Will fear of what may come our way destroy our steps to onward go? Will winter's cold defeat our day to march toward summer's warmth to know? Without hope's friendship can we live? Can we yet help the sons of Earth? The truest hope He ever gives is change from death to know new birth. by Jay O’Toole on January 5th, 2022 |
The roof above the house is great! The roof above the sky, it shows His Care, the early, late, it always draweth nigh. Like a roof He covers us with His sheltring wings. Every day His loves to bless the hearts His praises sing. The roof above, the floor beneath, His arms around to hold. Eternal good He doth bequeath to those made purest gold. by Jay O’Toole on January 4th, 2022 |
Wisdom grows from day to day in the choices made. Some are big on full display. Some are heartfelt bade. Wisdom comes when facing Truth, even when it's hard. In the long-gone days of youth, choices leave it marred. Wisdom comes in lessons learned through the teary stream. When the life is wondrous turned, the future is redeemed. by Jay O’Toole on January 3rd, 2022 |

New Year's Eve, so bold and bright. New Year's Eve, we change tonight. Watching for one number new. 12 more months of things to do. If The Lord doth give us leave, by His Hand we will achieve. If The Lord doth say us, "Stay," we'll wait on His Grand Face today. We will do or we'll forbare for all of life is by His Care. Much good we hope we'll do and serve by Grace, since Hell we do deserve. Never think we strong enough to by our power His Goodness bluff, but think of Grace, that gives us pow'r to stand for Him in ev'ry hour. This New Year Happy, let's embrace. Each day we spend in His Dear Grace. When New Year's Eve we live, again, let's thank Him for what He did win. by Jay O’Toole on December 31st, 2021 |
Filaments thread the darkened sky. Thunder grumbles low. Storm clouds of this year go by. There's a new to know. Attic boxes shoved make noise. Thunder up above. Off and on like light switch toys the lightning shows His Love. Crickets fiddle, "It's okay. Got no worries here. Just the Master's music plays, washing air so clear." Silence covers darkened skies, but for insect calls. "Where's the rain?" Await replies. Wisdom covers all. Sudden. When we least expect the rain will heavy fall. Nothing earthly can deflect The Lord's great Judgment squall. by Jay O’Toole on December 30th, 2021 |
Future comes in breaths we breathe. Future comes with every beat of the heart. Future comes, none can deceive. Future comes with all the new we start. Future moves us toward the goal. Future sees a time will come when Time is gone, but Now is whole. Future Now is aye the sum. Future fades when Now is all. Future then will coalesce with Past and Present by the Call of He, Whose Life alone can bless. Future brings a Happy New Year. Future here a day of Grace. Future when we're past all fear reveals the Greatest Human Face. Future is a vast unknown to those of us, who breathe this air. Heed the warning, Future's tone is fragranced by The One, Who's fair. by Jay O’Toole on December 29th, 2021 |
Doing chores may seem to be a thankless task and time. Wash each dish there is to see, keeping clothes so prime. Help the child to grow up well, daily things to do. When they're older time will tell, reflect they do on you. Life is filled with things and deeds, that we'd rather not, but we do all by our creeds as we know we ought. Christmas season's wondrous bliss place we in a box. Thoughts of tender joys, each kiss wakes to washing socks. On this Earth, we live each day, doing what we can. And fore'er we're His display. His task, His Grace by plan. by Jay O’Toole on December 28th, 2021 |
