We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life.
โ€œThere are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .โ€

โ€œOur anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.โ€

โ€œHope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.โ€
โ€• Charles Haddon Spurgeon

โ€œIf sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.โ€
โ€• Charles Spurgeon

โ€œA Bible thatโ€™s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isnโ€™t.โ€

โ€œVisit many good books, but live in the Bible.โ€

22 tutus have graced our stage
with 88 limbs that drew in the air.
22 dancers all earning a wage.
With joy as their home, they all flew without care.

22 tutus are swans on a lake.
The 22 souls of a troupe become one.
With 22 years of our writing at stake
we have 22 entries for contests not done.

When Edgar Degas with dancers a tout
assayed to put paint to a canvas and all,
22 dancers stood resting and mute
awaiting their manager's "Places," their call.

22 tutus with fingers all new-new,
the newbies hold Writing.com as their place.
Creating new words is our gift, if I threw you.
These 22 years our blest "home" is a grace.

22 days of this month, and some more
we'll celebrate 22 years of this place.
Thanking the Master and Mistress of Stor(y)
by making new poems and prose with our space.

22 tutus with 22 pens.
New stories to write of feet, that have spins.

Prompt: Write something with the number 22 as a dominant theme, topic, or idea
in honor of WdC's 22nd birthday celebration.
Written for "The Whatever Contest." *Right* "The Whatever Contest -- Closed for NowOpen in new Window.
