Less than a week ago it was -16 degrees F--Last Wednesday actually--this last weekend it's been gradually warming and snowing; accummulated around a foot of snow on my porch--then this morning it is +40 degrees F and raining!!!

I can't keep up with the changes lol

Take care and may your road lead to only good places.

Compassion and the effort to try and understand some thing that was not understood before is a step toward acceptance not only of others but most importantly of yourself.

I will try to enter a blog everyday this week as an exercise in consistancy. If I am consistant in my availability to write there is a chance that I will actually do just that--

My early weekend is nearly over. Lunches are finished in the crockpot and laundry is done. Tomorrow I start a long work week--five tens and it is a payday week.

Working Sunday will ensure that this payday is a full payday. Sunday is the last day of the pay period and I need to work it to make up for the canceled workday Thursday due to a power outage.

A Writing Challenge: What I have come up with for a base to a New Character and a New World:

a new character
Gender: female
Race/Species: non-human race--From semi-tropical zone.
Age: young adult: 27 years to 37 years (Equivalence to human Life span: Human=85; nonhuman=105 years)
Hair: fine; medium length; light brown to dishwater blond with purplish/pinkish highlights
Eyes: off-white;bluish tinted eyeball w/ dark blue w/ darkpurple streaked iris @ purple black pupil/round (Billy Joel eyes)
Nose: medium length; slightly flat around nostrils/Additional olfactory organs appear as a set of six small holes on cheeks and a prehensile feather like protuberance on top of the head.
Skin: olive pigmentation
Stature: Height: 5'8"
Weight: 125#
Energy: Physical: Quick Athletic/Agile/Limber/Acrobatic
Mental: Methodic/Purposeful/Thoughtful
Emotional: Aura equivalent to Grounded/Calm/Kind
Name(s): Home Language: [low grunt-medium gurgle-shrill whistle-low chirp- short cackle]
Human interpretation: Quiet Brook Laughing Sparrow

Political/Spiritual Base:

a new world

Name: Indigenous Language: [long gurgle-moderate whistle-grunt] rough translation-the World-but actually equates a deeper emotional/spiritual attachment

Galactic Identification: deltaM?????? Subsector /Sector /Quadrant

Human Name: Spensor (named by initial mapping expedition exploring this section of space; Spensor Drummond was the Third in command)

Life:
Microbes found in soils, water, air: large vector of bacteria and viruses (most not dangerous to human life because they are genetically too different; others have evolved enough that immunizations are required to prevent major epidemics among indigenous inhabitants and visiting humans.)

Botany: earth equivalents from single celled plants all the way up to complex flowering plants

Zoology: earth equivalents from single celled to mammals
For example:
Rodentia: Spensor Wharf Rat--not quite a rat at all; smaller than Earth equivalent w/ appearance more of a cross between a squirrel and a vole--but fills same niche as an Earth Wharf Rat/genetic code--more complicated than found in earth flora and fauna

Geology: a Planet similar to Earth 0.9 gravity @ sea level with similar Earth-like Climate Zones/1.2x Earth dia./Less dense than Earth consists of more silicates and slightly less percentage of iron and other heavier metals/Plate techtonics/Molten Core (volcanic activity)/Tilted axis 10 degrees (seasons)/32 hour Rotation/ 2 moons (tidal pulls)/White Dwarf Sun (1.1xSol)/68% water/32% land masses with 4 major continents/3rd planet from the sun but orbiting at a distance between the mean orbital distance of Earth and Mars.

Characterization

369 words (all words)

This is the base for the character and world--a start to it anyway--now to let it soak into my being and fester into a story *Laugh* I will add to physical descriptions both to character and world as the days evolve.

Yep--pretty darn cold

Had to start my car every 2-1/2 hours and let it run for 15-20 minutes while at work because there was no place to plug in a block heater.

On the way home I was afraid my gas line was freezing--the truck acted like it was starved for gas a couple times--had to pull to the side of the road and let it run for a bit before continuing home.

-16 + 45mph=??? degrees windchill? Whatever it equals; my truck didn't like it much.

And Thursday promises to be colder???

O Boy.

3:32pm

Update for today: No Work--power is out on the job site, so the work day has been rescheduled for Sunday Night with the reasoning that temperatures will be on the rise and it is the last day of the week to make-up the hours missed today.

Tuesday at work proved to be infinitely more interesting than Monday--I was exhausted by the time I got home.

Up now and getting ready for the adventures that Wednesday will bring. What will Mr. Wizard pull out of the hat today for this little Turtle?

Another busy day before the work week starts--lunches are made and packed for the first couple days

I defrosted the fridge freezer and rearranged so I can easily find fixins for the crockpot for the end of the week lunches.

Monday and Tuesday will be pork and barley. Maybe I will do chicken soup for the end of the week.

spent all day Saturday doing the domestic thing and updating my mp3 player I listen to at work.

Now it's close to bed time.

Sheesh

Given my lack of inspiration, I don't have a set X of number of words to write per month or per day. I do, however, have a set routine to be available to write anything and any number when I sit with 'butt in chair'. This counts by the way *Wink* 109 words so far today; counting this last sentence.

My Wednesday is winding down and I will be off to bed shortly.

The drive home from work took me twice as long as normal with slushy snow and freezing rain making going any faster than 25 mph very fool hardy. I am exhausted from my high tensity drive. lol

Well I have tried several times to get back on line after being frozen out earlier yesterday. Either my computer is wacked again; or my internet carrier and connection is to blame.

The result is the same--I'm denied access when I wish it.

Just read the newsfeed:

Tonight, we noticed some peculiar activity on Writing.Com. As a precaution, we acted aggressively and took all of our servers offline, so that we could do a very thorough security check through each and every area of Writing.Com...

Phwew! nice to know it wasn't on my end that I couldn't get back onto WDC

I went to bed early--for a Friday night for me anyway--;around 3:30 AM and got up way late; around 5:00 PM. I haven't slept over ten hours straight in forever. In this case my sleep time goes over thirteen-and-a-half hours. I must have needed it tho, I feel fine--not grogged out or lethargic.

I've been reading a book by Joe Clifford Faust called A DEATH OF HONOR

The story is okay. I'm not the target audience in that I'm not male between the ages of 23 and 40. It is a mystery and sci-fi, though; so for that reason, I will probably finish the book. lol

Published by Ballantine Books, New York [A Del Rey Book] copyright 1987.

Some notes about the author: He lives on the plains of the Old Bozeman Trail (which places him in Montana). Mr. Faust is a member of the Small Press Writers and Artists Organization (SPWAO). Most of his work reflects his interest in music, dark humor and the workings of the human brain.

The above are highlights taken from the About the Author blurb.

Like I said I'm not the target audience, so the story is just okay in my opinion.

My Friday begins when I get up later this afternoon--Yes, I know it is only Thursday, but it is my last workday of the week; thus, it is my Friday.

The end of this week also falls on the 120th day that I was hired on by the company where I work from the temp employment agency who found me the job. Four months--sweet.
