We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life. |
“There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .” ― Charles Spurgeon “Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.” ― C. H. Spurgeon “Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.” ― Charles Haddon Spurgeon “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.” ― Charles Spurgeon “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” ― Charles Spurgeon “Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.” ― Charles Spurgeon “When your will is God's will, you will have your will.” ― Charles Spurgeon https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/2876959.Charles_Haddon_Spurgeon (Philippians 2:13, KJV) |
How do we live in heat so strong? It makes us tremble when we step. How can we brighten life in song, while sweating ev'ry trudging rep? "We must have water." "Aye, 'tis true." "We must have shade to often rest." "The sweatiness, that's through and through is better than no sweating's test." I walk outside and gasp for breath. I wipe my brow and wipe, again. I pray the Lord will keep from death all souls, that must traverse this strain. So many months ago the cold was colder than my mem'ry serves, but now the heat of summer's bold, that makes some steps a weary swerve. We pray for cooler days' return, while sitting underneath the spray with sunblock, that we neither burn, nor soak the skin to wrinkle away. We thank, Thee, Lord, that ev'ry night You give relief in cooler times. Our sleep doth come as minds are light. Awakened, quench our thirst with limes. The heat wave gives us weary days to warn us of the lasting pain. Without the Lord and what He says, no lasting Hope will we see plain. by Jay O’Toole on August 8th, 2023 |
To see a subject just one way requires just one eye, but through the left and right we say, "This Truth we can't deny." "But what about The Son of God, Who is the only Way? There's just one view, this One we laud, and seek to e'er obey?" "He is The One on Whom we set our hopes, and hope to live. We work for Him and wonder yet about the Work He gives." "My soul He saves by standing here, without one thing to do? Or are good works to be held dear, eternally so true?" The thing we know from here to there is Jesus, He must save, but do I work for Him to share His Home beyond the grave? Now, do I work as one redeemed, to show I am made new? Is He forever all esteemed as One, Whose Work is through? If faith and works are always blest, and Jesus, He is Lord, then we will place them where they're best, according to His Word. by Jay O’Toole on August 7th, 2023 |
Lights buried in the shade waiting to shine, expressing bright hope. Though not seen by many eyes, seen by Eyes of wondrous size. Expectantly dance to give Him praise. Shining now before. Lights. Souls listen for the tunes of that great day when unseen we'll see. Celebrations will be known. Hearts once timid will be grown. Anticipation of heart's desire warm coats to cover Souls. Blest to be in the gates of His Honor there forevermore. Sinful once, now clothed in Grace, Never parting from His Place, Joyful Savior. By one choice His own, Blest Joy upon His Birthday, throughout the years, always dancing glad. Lights and music celebrate shines in darkness, ever great, temporal here. 37 years of walking this road. 37 years of friendship we love. 37 years a home and abode are training us for one lasting Above. 37 years a beauty she stays. 37 years I've watched for her care. 37 years her artful displays are growing to make what she now can share. 37 years ago in my suit. 37 years ago sang of joy. 37 years ago wondrous youth honored a man she's calling "her boy." 37 years are molding the shape of "two become one" in blessing for aye. 37 years the calendars gape between youthful start, and "Youth it must stay!" 37 years of marriage, right now. 37 years of marriage we've seen. 37 years of marriage's vow to stand in The Lord, and on Him to lean. by Jay O’Toole on August 1st, 2023 |
These little white lights above my space, where art is made and moments rest bring brightness, warmth to ev'ry place that helps me feel restored and blest. Sometimes time will softly pass without a stitch or something made. Meditation's large crevasse sits in peace with naught displayed. Mem'ries of these white lights brought make an old man young, again. Christmas past when I was taught, "Light's restored when saved from sin." (Ephesian 2:8-10, KJV) Nightly in the darkened sky these little white lights hang up in space. Plaintiff moans or faintest cry, "Save my soul for The Savior's Place." When the Truth is no more heard, when the Lord in silence hides the little white Lights of the lasting Word shine upon our blackness, Pride. The little white light across the waves grows quite large as near we sail. Shoals avoid we as He saves to snatch us from great lasting Fail. Restoring hearts by Light and Truth new giftings come amid this rest. The little white lights do spark our youth reminding us in Him we're blest. by Jay O’Toole on July 31st, 2023 |
The days of life upon this globe are filled with things to do. The Lasting Day will have a robe, agreeing with The True. (John 14:6,KJV) The days of life see a growing child, a youth and adult blest. The Lasting Day will see a smile beyond each earthly test. The days of life are classes same to train us while we're here. The Lasting Day in Praise or flame by Christ or in our fear. The days of life know wondrous friends, and sadly some are not. The Lasting Day will hearts full mend, though some will be forgot. The days of life are days of grace. Salvation here receive. The Lasting Day cannot replace what's bought by those deceived. The days of life are but a wisp of vapors from our lungs. The Lasting Day in Moment crisp we'll enter, songs be sung. The days of life, The Lasting's Womb, we gestate, and we grow. The Lasting Day, beyond the Tomb, "I'll know as I am known." (I Corinthians 13:12, KJV) by Jay O’Toole on July 26th, 2023 |
