Summary of this Book...
This is a great introductory book into the scientific discipline of geology. It covers all aspects of the field, from the definition of different types of rocks, to how the content of the Earth’s core is determined.
This type of Book is good for...
Someone wanting a more in depth knowledge of geology than can be found in a half hour popular science program.
I especially liked... | ||
The jargon used in the book was not overly technical, but neither was it “dumbed down.”:The author proceeded in a.n orderly, step by step process of educating the reader, introducing new scientific terminology and concepts only after a foundation was carefully laid.
I didn't like... | ||
There really wasn’t anything I disliked.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
1) Expand my knowledge of specific fields, such as volcanology. 2) Revisit Crater of Diamonds State park in southwest Arkansas. I want to through the attached museum again and look at the displays, now that I have a greater appreciation and understanding of the information they were trying to convey. Plus, I want to dig and enjoy being able to identify what I’m digging up!
This Book made me feel...
More curious about geology and its related fields.
The author of this Book...
David A. Rothery is professor of planetary geosciences at the Open University in the United Kingdom. In addition, he has been involved in several projects and workgroups with the European Space Agency.
I recommend this Book because...
It’s a fantastic way to gain a more in-depth knowledge of geology.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It’s not a casual read. | ||
