Summary of this Book...
Twenty-five percent of the way into this book, I still couldn't tell you what it was actually about because the whole "dangerous figure from Ainsley's past" didn't seem to materialize by then. It was mostly alternating chapters detailing the nuances of each of Ainsley's and Nikki's lives and, to be honest, they were both boring as hell. The author does a good job of capturing the absolute mind-numbing tedium of being a parent of young children, but I already know what that's like in real life; I don't need fiction about it. And Ainsley is supposed to have some perfect life, but it kind of read like the author didn't actually know what to do with that; the description was all generic and boring. So when I get a quarter of the way through a book and find no discernible plot to speak of, and characters that I really don't enjoy spending time with, that's a real quick DNF for me.
