Summary of this Book...
When a book is this short, has this many characters in it, and moves as slow as it does, that's a huge red flag. I should have listened to the warning bells and DNF'ed this one because it didn't get any better toward the end. It felt like the author had a premise for the book (a woman emerges from a coma and spends time with her friend group which contains some hidden secrets), and started writing the book without any clear idea of how she wanted it to start, end, or what to put in the middle. So the narrative and the characters just kind of meandered for 220 pages, even if it defies logic. "Even though any normal person would, I'm not going to call the cops right now then I wouldn't be able to take up another 50 pages dragging this mystery out!" I really wanted to like this book because the mystery sounded interesting, and the main character has a love of movies which is always a selling point for me. Unfortunately, this book really didn't go anywhere and the 220 pages were a very slow, very tedious read. It was ultimately just a somewhat decent idea and story premise that never really lived up to its full potential. Apparently this was the first book in a two-book series, and I don't really feel the need to continue on. It also further reinforces the fact that Amazon First Reads really isn't all that particular about the stuff they choose to feature every month.
