Summary of this Book...
In California, during the 1920s Sanford and his uncle lived on a chicken ranch. The ranch was a cover-up for unspeakable crimes committed against Sanford and at least twenty other people by Uncle Stewart. Surviving the evil brutality and endless days of work Sanford had to closely observe his uncle and learn what to do to prevent him from going into crazy mode. Stress and deprivation were daily companions.

Forced to work all day and sometimes participate in brutal and horrific acts Sanford had to escape but with nowhere to go and no one to help him, he was trapped in a world not worth living in under his uncle's tirades and abuses.

Despair flooded his mind and he was almost caving into this heavyweight. Ready to suffer any consequences he gave up. Would he find the strength to continue to survive? Would help eventually arrive? Would his uncle be caught? These questions and more are answered in this heart-wrenching story.

Isolated on the ranch Sanford had only his thoughts for company. Images of the people who visited the ranch haunted him. His uncle terrorized and mistreated him. This was no life for a teenager.
This type of Book is good for...
Readers who like true crime, psychological stories of the criminal genre, and stories with outcomes worth reading about.
I especially liked...
I found the characters interesting and got to know them, but uncle Stewart is someone I certainly would not want to meet under any circumstances.
I didn't like...
The brutality can be overwhelming and something that for some readers would cause nightmares.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
This is a great book because it tells a true story, but the details are so vivid I plan to read another genre and eventually read another true crime book.
This Book made me feel...
I felt as if I were in the scenes and personally a part of the character's lives. The horrors made me feel like I should do something to prevent them or stop them before they go too far.
The n/a of this Book...
The details of this book are vivid, and compelling, and make a person want to get out of there as fast as possible.
I recommend this Book because...
I recommend reading this book if you want a close-up view of a twisted brutal mind and someone who will stop at nothing to do and get what he wants when he wants. It also shows how someone thrust into this harrowing situation manages to survive day by day.
I don't recommend this Book because...
Because of the evilness, brutality, and verbal absue this book can be a challenge to read.
Further Comments...
The scenes in this book can cause nightmares for some people. I shudder to think of the awful and horrible things that happened on the chicken ranch. I believe this book will be inside my head for a while.
