Joel Backman is a high level broker who in his heyday was on top of the world with money, connections, and he also had information and a product that several governments wanted. Realizing his life was endangered he pleaded guilty to crimes he was accused of and was sentenced to prison where no one could get to him. After much pressure was put upon the president Backman was pardoned. Finally free he was whisked to a foreign country where he was protected and kept on a short leash by his protectors. Suspicious of everyone and everything Backman finally was able to return to his home country. The CIA watched and waited to see which country assassins would attempt to do this deed. Backman was a target and needed to make a change.

Readers who enjoy action and adventure, mystery, thrillers, and crime genres.

I liked all of this book but enjoyed most getting to know the characters and experiencing the fast paced story.

I didn't enjoy the idea that Backman was a target deliberately set free for the purpose of discovering who would try to murder him.

I am looking forward to reading another John Grisham book.

I felt as if I had experienced this book and got to personally know the characters.

This book kept me reading and wanting to know what happens next to the characters.

This book will interest readers who enjoy fast paced stories and animated characters. It also gives the reader a close look into government dealings that for some people would be astounding.

There are scenes that might be upsetting to some readers.

The writing style and pace of this book definitely will not put the reader to sleep. It is an exciting adventure with challenging obstacles Backman needs to over come.
