Summary of this Book...
I loved reading the Thursday Murder Club books, so I was excited to read this new one from Osman. And I wasn’t disappointed. It is different from the cozy mysteries, but it’s also similar in many ways. The thing I love the most is Osman’s narrative voice. His humour shines through, and you could hear him saying some of the things in the book. Like, hear Richard Osman saying them. And I love that! This is more of a thriller than cozy mystery. But a thriller with wit. Amy Wheeler is a badass bodyguard, hired by the famous author Rosie D’Antonio (who is a fabulous character) because she fears for her life. Rosie wrote a character into her latest book who was based on a Russian gangster. And he wasn’t very happy about it. While guarding Rosie in North Carolina, Amy is shot at. She is being targeted by a big-time villain who has hired a hit on her. She needs help find out the identity of the villain and save herself, and she enlists the help of her father-in-law, Steve. Steve is a retiree who just wants a quiet life. He doesn’t take risks, and he just wants a quiet life. But he agrees to help Amy because they have a wonderful relationship. That is the premise. I won’t give away what happens. I will just say this book is well worth a read. I highly recommend it.
