Summary of this Book...
This book is fiction, based on a true event, the collapse of the Silver Bridge, in Point Pleasant, in 1967. This story also includes a ghostly legend of the Mothman, who is believed to be roaming the swampy area of the community. The story is about two people who are still crippled with memories of the devastating event of the bridge collapse, fifteen years later. Eve Parrish lost her father and best friend; Caden Flynn (Eve’s one-time crush) lost his younger sister. When Eve returns to Point Pleasant to settle her aunt’s affairs, she uncovers a secret about her aunt’s death, that could tie her to the legend of the Mothman and the disappearance of 16-year-old girl, who was known to sleep around. Eve and Caden start digging for answers, which lands them right in the path of a murderer. Is it the Mothman, or someone in town, disguised as a friend and neighbour? Then, when the murderer is revealed, the race is on to bring him to justice, with little evidence to a fifteen-year-old murder.
This type of Book is good for...
Anyone who enjoys a great mystery/thriller with an exciting plot and a paranormal element thrown in.
I especially liked...
The way that secrets got revealed, the myth of the Mothman tying events and people together, driving Eve and her friends to dig further and look closer. Then when the murderer is named, his nickname is used, so I still had to try to figure out who it was. I love that I was kept guessing. As the plot unravels, we see how people and events are related, bringing the whole story together. I really like what we learn about the Mothman in the end.
I didn't like...
How obvious it was that Eve and Caden were going to get together. Also, the phrases “three heartbeats” and “raked his fingers through his hair” were overused.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Read more from this author. I found out this is the first book in a trilogy. I will definitely be reading the next two.
This Book made me feel...
Excited. I definitely cheered for the heroes at the end.
The n/a of this Book...
The author took an actual occurrence and an actual myth from the area, and created an excellent fiction novel about the community’s struggle to put the past behind them and move on.
I recommend this Book because...
This book is very cleverly written. It is exciting and mysterious.
