Summary of this Book...
This book is about four “races” of creatures: vampires, witches, humans and demons. Each of them has their own characters, peculiarities, and powers. The humans have no powers and for the most part, are oblivious to the existence of the other groups, except for a select few. There are laws that govern these powerful creatures, and a governing body that enforces those laws. The most important law is that they are not allowed to co-mingle. Trouble starts when Diana Bishop is doing some research in a library, and she unknowingly triggers a very powerful and magical book that had gone missing centuries ago. All of a sudden, as if a beacon went off, witches, vampires and demons stalk the library, looking for Diana and the book. They bring trouble and danger to Diana whenever they show up; they bring the threat of harm and even death.

I especially liked... | ||
That this is not a typical vampire story. In this first book, Diana Bishop (who doesn’t want anything to do with her magical heritage) and Matthew Clairmont (a vampire) are the main characters. Although creatures are not to co-mingle, Matthew teaches Diana about herself and together they go in search of the missing book. The other creatures don’t like that they are teaming up, and they cause trouble for the two. This reminds me very much about when races today come together, and how much flack other races may give them.
