A robbery resulting in events that change many lives especially the authors start this story. After the objects are gathered together and hauled away they are put in a secret hiding place by the person who intends to retrieve them in a few years. Their plans are abruptly changed by events that they didn't see coming and because of their delayed return to the hiding place the stash is discovered.

After the discovery by a young family member, it is moved but some of it is used to help a family because the father has a severe disability caused by a mean and twisted mind that enjoys causing destruction and mayhem. Book 1 reveals the information about this earlier incident.

After struggling for many, many months this family receives checks they believe are from the fundraising to help those people who were injured by the Marcadies incident, but it is from a different source. The rest of the treasure found is books that have the potential for becoming very valuable depending on the buyer or buyers.

After many years pass the original thief can return to his stash, but finds the container very lightweight. Focusing on recovering his stash he follows the clues and eventually winds up in the place where he believes it is rehomed. He also finds a surprise.

Mystery, thriller, and suspense readers who enjoy vibrant intriguing characters. There are twists and turns that will keep people reading.

I liked everything, especially the different character personalities.

For some readers, the detailed descriptions of some events might be problematic.

I definitely wanted to read the third book in this trilogy.

I felt satisfied that justice had been served but wondered about one of the characters.

The plot and characters of this book kept me reading for hours. I enjoyed the writing style.

If you are a fan of the author this is a must-read. It is full of characters you get to know personally, and the story is wonderful despite the parts about unsavory characters.

This is not a cozy mystery type of book. If a reader is faint of heart, squeamish, or perhaps prone to nightmares finding another book to read might be a better option. It might be worth going through these things because of the characters, plot, and writing style.

The most unsavory character drives this book forward in a gripping and suspenseful manner. I probably will reread this book.
