A few years ago, I took one of those enneagram tests that tells you what personality type you are. I thought it was pretty informative and interesting, but I never really took the time to read about the other eight enneagram types and what their particular traits are. A friend of mine recommended this book as a simple way to familiarize myself with all the types without going too far down the rabbit hole (there's a lot of enneagram stuff out there, and some of it is super technical and nuanced). Overall, I did get a lot out of the book. It's broken down into sections, which talk about each type, its strengths and weaknesses, how they are at work, in relationships, etc. I'm not one for going all-in on personality stuff... after reading this, it's not my new lifestyle manual or anything, but it is an informative tool that can be used in some ways to better understand myself and the way I see the world. Since it's also a relatively popular personality profile exercise these days, it's also helpful for having conversations with others. When someone says "I'm an Enneagram Type 2" that actually helps give me additional context for their perspective on things or where they're coming from, rather than what I used to do which was just nod along and pretend I knew what that meant. If you're into personality types and assessments and mental diagnostic tools and stuff like that, this is an interesting book that's worth a read. | ||
