Summary of this Book...
" The Dark Protectors are Back!

Vampire Ronan Kayrs wasn’t supposed to survive the savage sacrifice he willingly endured to rid the world of the ultimate evil. He wasn’t supposed to emerge in this time and place, and he sure as hell wasn’t supposed to finally touch the woman who’s haunted his dreams for centuries. Yet here he is, in an era where vampires are hidden, the enemy has grown stronger, and his mate has no idea of the power she holds.

Dr. Faith Cooper is flummoxed by irrefutable proof that not only do vampires exist . . . they’re hot blooded, able to walk in sunlight, and shockingly sexy. Faith has always depended on science, but the restlessness she feels around this predatory male defies reason. Especially when it grows into a hunger only he can satisfy—that is if they can survive the evil hunting them both.

Further Comments...
I totally wasn't going to review this book or even admit to anyone that I was reading the series (yep, I've read them all... and now that the cat's out of the bag, I guess I'll review the rest eventually, if I still remember enough about them to do so), but Gervic's Dragon Vale has gotten me into a review a day habit so I figured I would review it.

This was a fun and fast-paced paranormal, romantic suspense with some sci-fi elements (weapons from the future, advanced technology beyond what I'm aware exists now etc) and great characters. I had never read this author before I read the first book in this series but she quickly got me hooked. I suspect I will read the whole series before the year is out, and I don't even know how many books are in it. Guess I should check, because if I'm wondering, you probably are too.

Okay, there are 16 books in the series and this is number eight. The third generation has been born from the timeline of the first book, and now Ronan takes the timeline back about 1,000 years, so the 8 books at least touch on quite the time line. Two of the young adults from the last book feature in this one, and one of them features in the next one. The other one had been a part of at least two of the previous books in the series. She's really great at having these characters naturally pop in to the story and then when their book is out, I'm excited to learn more about their lives and adventures.

So, back to this book, I didn't actually read the Amazon description, so sorry if there's overlap. I figure most people want to read that, and their pros probably can do a better description, but here's mine. Ronan had been in another dimension, kind of serving as a prison gatekeeper for about a thousand years. He comes back to our dimension and is in a coma when Faith is called in to consult on his case.

Faith is a doctor who specializes in helping coma patients because she's "enhanced" (the book term for human females with paranormal abilities) and, while she doesn't advertise it, can usually communicate with people in comas. To everyone's surprise, he awakens when she gets very close to him and it turns out is also his mate. But of course, he hasn't been on earth for a very long time and everything is confusing to him and she thinks he's crazy and dangerous. So they aren't off to the best start.

Gracious, this review will be way too long if I keep going at this rate... I'll try to be more concise. Faith's sister is in a coma and she is one of the few people Faith hadn't been able to communicate with.

The bad guys (and some new to this book that hadn't been mentioned that I recall in the previous books) are eager to kill Ronan and capture Faith. So the rest of the book revolves around Ronan and Faith's love story, and them struggling to stay alive, beat the bad guys (or at least survive them), and keep Faith's sister safe.

Other notes: I borrowed a copy of this book from my local library. I rated it GC because of a certain kind of violence. It's against the bad guys but still, not for everyone. And I skipped the sex scenes so there may or may not be GC stuff in there. I skip the sex scenes in all books for personal reasons.

This book isn't for everyone, but I enjoyed it.
