Summary of this Book...
Citizens living in a small town know everyone and the latest town news. It is business as usual one day and the next day the town is living a nightmare. A convoluted and twisted mind full of the lust for power and control, greed, and the need for respect drives this character to do unspeakable and devious tasks to hold a small town hostage. His followers turn against their neighbors for the thrill of doing police work and some for other reasons. No one knows the gorilla secret their leader hides. The characters take sides based on the information they receive. A few townspeople learn the truth. Those who desire to have complete control and personal benefits blindly follow those who are holding high office. Those who know the truth battle to set things right risking their lives. The conflict between individuals and groups keeps this story moving through a mystery toward an amazing conclusion. The perceived enemy may not be what people think.
This type of Book is good for...
Readers who enjoy mystery, suspense, interesting characters, and vivid scenes. It is a long book of about 1000+ pages.
I especially liked... | ||
The characters are numerous and you get to know each one of them. The descriptions of the scenes are like seeing the places in colorful detail. I enjoyed meeting the characters and seeing where they lived and what they did each day
I didn't like... | ||
Although it was wonderful getting to know so many characters I had to concentrate so I could keep track of who was who. The book is lengthy and I needed to spend a lot of time reading through it. In the end, it was worth it.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Take a break from reading. Perhaps in the distant future, I will read this book again. I hope to never have this kind of experience. Experiencing these events in print is close enough for me.
This Book made me feel...
I felt like I had run a marathon but I was exhilarated because I won the race. Satisfied and relieved about reaching the end. The outcome of the book left me pondering humanity and what the future might hold.
The n/a of this Book... | ||
This story is about survival, learning, finding truth, and then acting. I hope we have a better future than what was shown in the book's ending, but there are no guarantees.
I recommend this Book because...
The situation could be that the story is thought-provoking, it is an adventure with conflict, and it could appeal to many readers because there are thrills, mysteries, and conflicts to keep readers interested. Adventure and survival make this a roller coaster ride that will last for a while.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It is a long book, it's heavy, and it has a lot of scenes and characters that could be upsetting to some people, proceed with caution.
Further Comments... | ||
If you enjoy reading about a character you love and a character you hate this story could be right for you. If you're squeamish perhaps you should seek another story. The book is long, but as I was brought deeper into the story I became more interested in spending the time experiencing everything. I believe there is more between the lines which POV of the reader may or may not be discovered.
