Summary of this Audible Books & Originals...
In "Girl, Wash Your Face," Rachel Hollis confronts many of the past lies she's told herself. Each chapter is dedicated to a specific lie. Within that chapter, she details how believing that lie negatively affected her life, what she did to overcome it, and how changing her belief had a positive outcome. She gets honest with the reader, sharing facts about her life and mental health, things she's struggled with and overcome.
This type of Audible Books & Originals is good for...
Women, especially moms, who struggle with day-to-day life will benefit from hearing these lies. If one of the chapters' lies don't affect you, skip to the next one, but most of them will. I was surprised at how each one hit so close to home.
I especially liked... | ||
Every single chapter starts with, "The lie?" And the short and sweet version of what that lie is. You know immediately whether that chapter pertains to you. There were a few chapters about parenting that didn't apply to me, but, more often than not, I felt immediately called out by the lies she addressed in these chapters and just the first two sentences.
I didn't like... | ||
There's not much about this book that I didn't like, but if I have to say something, there are several chapters about being a parent. I didn't relate to those, although I know that more readers probably did.
When I finished n/a this Audible Books & Originals I wanted to...
Honestly? I wanted to get up and wash my face, look in the mirror, and tell myself to get back to the long list of goals I set before all the lies started to form. Back when I still had motivation and belief in myself.
This Audible Books & Originals made me feel...
I also have the physical copy, but the audiobook is read by the author. I felt like she was really speaking to me about her struggles and about how she overcame them. I felt so inspired by her story, and she spoke it directly to me. It was like a long motivational speech, and hard to stop listening.
The n/a of this Audible Books & Originals...

Further Comments... | ||
Rachel Hollis has an incredible story to tell. Oh, and she will definitely call you out on those lies you believe about yourself, make you feel bad about it for just a minute, and then inspire you to do something about it.
