Summary of this Book...
This is a *very short* collection of 24 green smoothie recipes that Dr. Goldner (the author) used to heal herself from Lupus, an autoimmune disease, and stay in remission.

I believe she's been in remission (she considers herself cured) for 16 years now. I think this was her first book and her newer books leave the spirulina and chlorella out. If you make the recipes, I'd definitely recommend leaving the spirulina out (see nutritionfacts.org). I don't know anything about chlorella. I have made a few of her smoothie recipes that are free on her www.smoothieshred.com site and wanted to see if there was more variety here. There aren't many new ones that interested me in the book (so glad I used credits to buy it!) but there is one she calls "ginger snap" that I'm looking forward to trying. It won't taste like a ginger snap but with pear and ginger, it does sound delicious to me.

Another thing to consider is that in this book she says to add the water to a certain level but now on her website it's to the top of the greens. I do to the top of the greens. It was weird at first but now I like it that way. It's a lot of water! But with the amount of greens (75% greens to 25% fruit), I think that it's just the right amount for me personally.
This type of Book is good for...
People interested in smoothies with a high percentage of greens, people wanting a few more recipes than are available on her site, or in her other books ("Goodbye Lupus" and "Goodbye Autoimmune Disease") ... though I haven't finished "Goodbye Autoimmune Disease" so it's possible that all of these recipes are at the back of that? I should have checked before buying this one!
I especially liked...
The ginger snap recipe. I haven't tried it yet but am looking forward to it. Also her son's "chocolate milk" (with plant milk) sounds good too.
I didn't like...
How very short the book was. I didn't read the description well enough and was expecting 3x or more the number of recipes.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Make the ginger snap smoothie. But I wasn't hungry (it was bedtime) so I saved it for another day.
This Book made me feel...
Happy for her remission/recovery. Wishing that there were many more recipes.

I recommend this Book because...
If you're looking for a little more variety than is on her free website, there are more options here, though I think all of the recipes on the website are also (in a modified version) in this book... so that makes it 24 - the 7 or so recipes on her website. Not a *lot* of extra variety but at least some.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It's so short. If you're okay with that, then it's great.
Further Comments...
I own this as an ebook so if you want to borrow it, let me know. I think Kindle allows 14 day one time loans. Of course, if you buy it through this link, that helps WDC so if you can afford to do so, that's super too.
