Summary of this Book...
This is a fast-paced, twisty psychological thriller, and I loved it.

The novel begins with Jenny Bowen, the main character, seeing a woman and a young girl getting into a carriage on an overnight sleeper train from London to Scotland. In the early hours of the morning, Jenny finds the woman dead from an apparent overdose. There is no sign of the girl, however, and after a short investigation, the police conclude there never was any girl. Jenny must have imagined it because her father recently died, so she must be in the throes of grief. Jenny is not buying it.

This book has it all: a strong female protagonist, a kind sidekick in the form of Sergeant Mike, and a plot that races along at break-neck speed with a ton of twists and turns.

There is something that happens (I won’t say what because I don’t want to give it away) that took me by surprise. It knocked me sideways. I didn’t see it coming. At least, not in the way it did come.

If I’m honest, the last 15% of the book dragged in comparison with the rest. The whole scene at Blackwall House seemed to be a little predictable, and it seemed somewhat drawn out. I found myself wanting to finish reading it more quickly than I did up until that point. That is my only complaint, though. It didn’t spoil my reading experience too much.

All in all, an enjoyable read.
This type of Book is good for...
Fans of fast-paced psychological thrillers. It is at the top of its game.
I especially liked...
The plot twists. And there were many! I loved how I had no idea who the main character could really trust, and I found myself on the edge of my seat, waiting for something bad to happen through the whole book.
I didn't like...
The ending. Compared to the rest of the book, it dragged. It's a shame because I might have given it a 5* if not for this.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Check out what else this author has written.
This Book made me feel...
Tense, excited, shocked. All in a good way.
The author of this Book...
MJ Cross. I know very little about him, but I will definitely download some of his other works.
I recommend this Book because...
It's filled with suspense and danger. A great, nail-biting read.
