My small group Bible study alternates between Bible translations and the NIV is my leader's favorite. I like reading different translations but also find myself coming back to this one. I recently finished reading the whole Bible through again and, while I did it mostly online, this is probably the print version I'd buy if shopping through Amazon. It's inexpensive yet nice looking and has larger print.

How on earth does one summarize the Bible? My faith believes it's the inspired Word of God and is useful for instruction, teaching and growing in faith and wisdom.

I think if you were reading the Bible for the first time, it'd be good to start with one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John). My Mom recommended starting with John and then Psalms and Proverbs. I think it depends on the person and what they're seeking. I'm particularly fond of the books my Mom recommended and the short book of Philippians ... and the book of James.... and so much more.

The Bible, taken as a whole, is essentially a love story. The story of God's great love for us, His created children. There's even a simplified version called, "The Story," which I have read but don't think I reviewed but do recommend for new believers or more mature one who just want some lighter reading.

I love the Bible. If I could only have one book, it'd be the Bible. I bought an interlinear Bible for my next read through, though I'm going to just read what I want for a while before starting that.

Everyone! I'm biased, of course, but I believe every human being can benefit from spending time reading the Bible and the more time spent doing so, the better.

God's great love for us. The fact that He sings over us. The amazing insights into what eternity in His glorious presence will be like.

Re-read Philippians, James, the Psalms and Proverbs (so I did/am).

That God really loves me, that He loves you and He has gone to extraordinary and painful lengths to give us the opportunity to spend eternity with Him.

It's my favorite book on earth.
