Summary of this Book...
This is the book that the 1970's movies were based on. The movies follow the plot of the book closely. The book opens with Connie Corleone's wedding. The main character is Vito Corleone and how he runs his business and interacts with his family. He has high hopes for Michael, who unfortunately, due to tragedic events, eventually assumes the mantle of the "Don," after Sonny is killed and the Don dies. Note: I think there's a couple of sex scenes but nothing out of the mainstream.
This type of Book is good for...
Character development. The characters are interesting and drive the story.
I especially liked... | ||
Vito's story and how he cared for his family.
I didn't like... | ||
I didn't really care for the Johnnie Fontane and Lucy Manici arcs.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Watch the movies all over again!
This Book made me feel...
Eager to read it. The writing is easy to read and almost conversational and that really drew me into the story.
The author of this Book...
Is Mario Puzo. He's written other books but is mostly known for the Godfather.
I recommend this Book because...
Because the characters are interesting.
Further Comments... | ||
The book is written in a head hopping style, which for me, I don't mind as a reader if it's well done and not so jaring, which, for Puzo, is spot on. However, if you prefer different styles, you might it a bit exasperating.
