Summary of this Book...
This is a sweet, inspirational romance by an author I know primarily for romantic suspense.

It's mostly the second-chance love story between Jake and Maggie but also features some other interesting non-romantic relationships. I especially liked seeing Jake and his Dad heal old wounds, and the elderly lady's influence on Maggie.

I found this book in a rarely used cabinet. I'm guessing I bought it from my library when they used to have book sales (so it's been a while!). I think the book was published in 1999 so there have been changes in technology and culture since then. There's not a lot of action in the book. It's more about faith and feelings. There are some nice prayers, interesting relationship insights (especially between the hero and his dad).
This type of Book is good for...
People who like sweet, emotion-driven books with a Christian faith component.
I especially liked...
That Maggie finally opened to pursuing her artistic dreams and even took the trip she'd been planning since she was young. The prayers and faith elements.
I didn't like...
I personally prefer more action in a story but this was good for what it is. I did think Maggie was more fearful than realistic in some areas. The story could have been told in a much more concise way.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read something more exciting.
This Book made me feel...
This was a book I read while my husband was driving. So mostly I read it in short bursts. If it was an inside the home book, I think I would have been really bored. But a chapter here and there was fine. I did bring it inside last night so I could finish it up. I don't like a very exciting book for vehicular reading because then I don't want to put it down whenever we get where we're going. A boring book is actually perfect for this.
The author of this Book...
From Amazon: "Irene Hannon is the best-selling author of more than 35 novels. Her books have been honored with the coveted RITA Award from Romance Writers of America, the HOLT Medallion, the Reviewer's Choice Award from Romantic Times BOOKreviews magazine and the Daphne du Maurier Award for mystery/suspense. Irene and her husband make their home in Missouri, USA. Irene invites you to visit her at her website, www.irenehannon.com "
I recommend this Book because...
It's a sweet, uplifting read.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It can get boring.
Further Comments...
I am most likely going to pass this book on to an 88 year old friend. She loves books like this. She'd probably give it five stars. *Smile*
