Summary of this Book...
This is the second book in the "Irish Brides" series and tells the tale of the youngest Murphy sister's road to romance. Bridget is her first name. And also turns out to be the first name of William Black's mail order bride. So there's some drama up front with the confusion, William thinking Bridget is his bride to be and Bridget realizing that she wasn't but knowing he the bride was, and that this mysterious other Bridget she was also probably the missing mother of baby Grace, who the Murphy sisters had been caring for since the baby was found abandoned on the ship. William isn't willing to risk his heart and Bridget isn't willing to settle for a loveless relationship. The rest of the book has a few surprises... one really big... but is mostly just sweet and rather heavy on the emotion, especially compared to the first book in the series. But I did enjoy it. I just would have preferred a bit less introspection and a bit more action.
This type of Book is good for...
People who like Christian romance, sweet romance, and historical romance.
I especially liked... | ||
Bridget's character was nicer in this book than the first. Not that she was unlikable in the first, but she just shined more here. It was nice to see the progression in her other sisters' lives and the lead up to Nora's story too (to be featured in book 3).
I didn't like... | ||
The biggest problem for me was that in book 1 Bridget was super excited about a new dress and practically begging for it but in book 2 she could care less about appearances and, maybe I missed it, but I didn't see any transition. I guess that could be a slip with having different authors writing the series.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Find out what happened with Nora (read book 3).
This Book made me feel...
Glad for Bridget's happy ending.

Further Comments... | ||
I borrowed the book from my local library. Right now, the Kindle version is selling for $3.99 but the paperback is a crazy $920.99.
