This is the second book in the series and what I liked is that it showed the progression of Kelsea as a character. In the 1st book she was more heroic, but in this one, she struggles with a dark side which allowed her to grow.

Her relationship Pen and how she grew from that. I also liked the flashbacks that explained the history of the Tearling.

Re-read the series. Currently, there are 3 books, and the author is working on a prequel.

is Erika Johansen. She's a first time author and the Tearling is her only series, but it's extremely well written.

There's so much going on, so much that appeals to readers. There's action/adventure, romance, loyality, trust issues, mysteries, great characterization, etc.

I would love to see this series become a movie. Kelsea is a great character. I have this book in Hardback. I have re-read the series and I plan on re-reading them prior to the 4th book coming out in February 2021.
