Summary of this Book...
Book 4 in the Housewife series finds Helen in love and pondering a second marriage. As she tries to help older sister Julia navigate her unexpected, over 40 pregnancy, Rick's bitch of a daughter, Lola, shows up out of the blue causing mayhem. With a front row seat to Leoni's antics and Paul and Sally's eccentricities, Helen is distracted from her own problems, which becomes a problem itself.
I especially liked... | ||
The characters are still rich and the comedy is still there, just not as much as I would have liked.
I didn't like... | ||
Once again, I feel like the author moves too quickly. Book 4 starts by explaining that after the previous book ended, Helen had a whirlwind, romantic getaway. That's fine and well, but now we're rushing the topic of marriage as if Helen has been in a serious relationship for the past six months. Even though this is a silly, somewhat humorous chick-lit, I expected it to be a bit more believable. Throughout the series, we've watched Helen grow, but suddenly her character seems to have changed into someone else completely.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I already bought the final book in the series, so I may as well follow through and see if the author can do the same. I feel like she may be getting tired of Helen's story.
This Book made me feel...
Even though I had my doubts, I still got an occasional chuckle and nodded in agreement at times.
The author of this Book...
Discovered by the Richard & Judy Show in 2004, Alison Penton Harper grew up in London and worked in advertising for twenty years before writing her first novel, Housewife Down.
