Summary of this Book...
Theo Boone is the 13yr old son of two lawyers. The law is his favourite subject and the courthouse his hangout of choice. This is the third book in the series and follows on from the eponymous first book and The Abduction. Theo's bike has been vandalised (several times), the window of his law office smashed, and now a stolen laptop has been found in his school locker. The police are involved and it is up to Theo and his less than conventional uncle (yet another lawyer, well, ex-lawyer; Ike's disbarred) to clear Theo's name. And if they can convince an illegal immigrant to testify in a murder trail as well, then all the better.
This type of Book is good for...
The Boone series are written for children, but I found them good, light reading for an adult as well. Far more wholesome (despite the background murder investigation) than Grisham's adult books, these might appeal to people who like the idea of crime novels, but don't want anything too dark or gruesome.
I especially liked... | ||
How oblivious and innocent Theo can be, especially around his more nefarious Uncle Ike. The way in which Grisham inserts relatively complex legal terms and notions seamlessly into a children's book.
The author of this Book...
Is more well known for his adult legal-crime novels, many of which have been made into films including; The Firm; Runaway Jury; The Pelican Brief; The Rainmaker; A Time To Kill; The Client
