Summary of this Book...
This was the next in the Maisie Dobbs detective novel series. I had a problem with this book. It is the story of a gentle man who is a bit of a horse whisperer. He is killed and Maisie investigates. Her co-worker, Billy Beale is badly beaten and injured. In the end, national security is involved so Maisie cannot bring the guilty parties to justice. I was quite unclear about who did what in the end. The situation with the Nazis is starting to interfere with everything. Also, Maisie is throwing away her relationship with James while she tries to fix everyone else's lives with money. It was a very uneven and unsatisfying reading experience, unlike the last book. I hope they get better from here - better and better, but the last book was far superior to this one.
