The story begins with Old Major, an old boar on the Manor Farm, calling a meeting which all the farm animals attended. He tells them humans are "enemies" and teaches them a revolutionary song called "Beasts of England".

After he dies two young pigs lead a revolution, drive out Farmer Jones and all other humans, and rename it Animal Farm.

Things go well for a while, but soon Jones and other farmers attack and try to take back the farm. The animals win. Napoleon and Snowball, the two young pigs, take over the leadership of the farm. Soon the pigs get greedy and begin treating the animals as Jones did.

In the end, the pigs have a dinner party for local farmers who have allied with them and soon the pigs look and act like humans.

This book is a political satire. It compares humans to government and animals to the common people. I would recommend Animal Farm as required reading in schools.

I like the characters. The animals have names and distinct personalities making the story believable. They learn to read and use the farm equipment to make the farm run smoothly.

I enjoyed this book! It was a good read.
