Overall, I though this mystery had two things going for it: Laura Baxter is a well-developed, interesting protagonist, and the murder plot is well-written and interesting. On the downside, though, I thought Baxter's partner Holt was not very engaging and the rapport between the two of them was really tedious to read at times. If this were the lead-in to the Laura Baxter series, I'd probably check out the next one... but knowing it's the "Baxter and Holt" series and the back-and-forth relationship between the partners is likely to continue, I doubt I'll continue reading. That said, the narrative itself was interesting and well-plotted.
