A Historical Romance, this novel is the story of Callie James. Callie began her life in Dublin, Ireland during the Great Potato Famine. She was the eldest daughter in a poor family with too many mouths to feed. feeling responsible for her younger siblings she stole food to help put food on the table. Stealing was punishable by hanging. Fearing for Callie's life her mother sent her to New York to find a better life. Troubles and heartache followed Callie throughout the novel. | ||
