Summary of this Book...
The main character,Ruby Conner, takes us through the seasons of her life from spring to winter. Starting out her life in a poor and dysfunctional family under her father's strict, unloving, dictatorship Ruby was forced to eat every scrap on her plate or be severely disciplined. Ruby and her three sisters feared and hated their father. They listened as he beat their mother regularly. When she was old enough to go to college, she left and swore to never return. This book is about Ruby's relationships, her successes and failures as her life passed from spring to winter. Going from a child dressed in had-me-downs to the wealthy half owner of a Fortune 500 cookie company, Mrs. Sugar, Ruby struggles with friendships, marriage, and motherhood.
