Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is a true story that takes place in the early 1940's in Berlin. A couple (played by Emma Thompson and Brendan Gleeson) loses their son in the war. They are very angry at the Nazis and all the lies told by Hitler. So, they start a campaign of their own, putting postcards all over the city of Berlin, drawing attention to the lies and evil of the Nazi regime. They do this for a time, but eventually are found out and captured. They don't really care much about their own lives after the loss of their son and this act of defiance against the monstrous Nazis helps give their lives meaning. They end up being guillotined after their identities are discovered. At first another person they know is blamed and he is murdered by the regime. So, they have to live with that guilt in the end. Still, they tried to do something while others just went along while sheep. The movie is very very slow moving. It's a good cast if you can hang in there and don't fall asleep. | ||
