Summary of this Book...
Stephen King and his son, Owen, have collaborated on a fascinating work of fiction that describes what could happen if the women of the world suddenly began to disappear. This great novel follows the small town of Dooling and the Women's Correctional Facility that's located there. A strange but very attractive woman by the name of Eve mysteriously shows up in the town, and she seems to be cause of the disappearances. But is she? And if so, is there any way she can get them to come back?
This type of Book is good for...
I thought this was somewhat of an educational story that looks at what it's like living in 'a man's world' from a women's point of view and what they go through.
I especially liked... | ||
Other than being coauthored by one of my favorite authors, I thought the general theme of the novel was great. For men, it's an eye-opening fictional account of what the world would be like if women weren't here. Both King and Owen bring the many characters to life with emotion and actions!
I didn't like... | ||
I wouldn't call this a 'dislike', but the author's writing styles ARE distinguishable (at they were to me). Granted, that's to be expected in any collaboration, but when I read King and Peter Straub's collaboration in The Talisman, I couldn't tell which author wrote what! And they'll never tell!
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Go out and read some more of Owen's fiction novels. Until Sleeping Beauties came out, I didn't know Owen had been previously published!
This Book made me feel...
Educated. While reading it I was surprised at just how differently women have to live in a world 'ruled' by men, and how much differently they see things than men do. It's no wonder women are called 'the fairer sex'.
The n/a of this Book... | ||
Both King and his son are incredible writers in their own rights, and to see this father/son novel was a real treat.
I recommend this Book because...
Anybody who likes Stephen King would love this novel, and it's not often that we see a collaboration between a father and son.
Further Comments... | ||
As a lifetime fan of Stephen King and horror in general, I thought this book was a nice detour from his usual genre and what he's best know for.
