Summary of this DVD... | ||
I saw this upon a friend's recommendation. It is based on a book that was self-published and sold over 20 million copies. A faith based story about a man who saves his son from drowning. While this is going on, his young daughter is abducted and presumably murdered. Her body is not recovered, but some time later this man (who was a victim of child abuse at his own father's hands) is summoned to the scene of the crime/murder. It is a shack. When he goes there, the shack is transformed and he gets to spend time with God. In this way, he comes to a bit of peace about the tragedies in his life and learns to forgive himself most of all. The lead actor (Sam Worthington) is supposed to be from the Midwest and he has an Australian accent. Other than that Time McGraw and Octavia Spenser were standouts in the cast. I didn't think the movie was all that good and it moved a bit too slowly for me. Overall, I would say it was a disappointment. | ||
