Summary of this Book...
It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back. Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel. Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl. Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

Further Comments... | ||
I read this book last year, somewhere in the first three months and I absolutely fell in love with it. I had never been a fan of reading post-apocalyptic novels but this one changed my view of novels about the apocalypse. This is the first book that I have read that has been written in the first tense and I absolutely enjoyed it. The flow of the story was really smooth and excellent and I loved the character of Penryn, the difficulties and challenges she faced, how a teen became a heroine. I also loved Raffe and the story is amazing. I could never get enough of it. I ordered the entire book series from Amazon before my exams but I didn't want to start reading it because I knew I would have to leave it in between for studies so I waited till my holidays and started reading it. Normally, I never re-read a book I have already read but this was the first book ever that I read again and enjoyed it even more than I had during my first read. Susue EE is now one of my favourite all time authors. I loved the writing style and how she ended the first book which made me immediately grab the second book and start reading it. There was too much tension and the creatures she had featured in her work, the scorpian angels - Boy, that was something! I loved everything about the book, it was more than perfect!
