Summary of this Book...
Every year Scoutmaster Tim Riggs takes his troop of five boys into the Canadian wilderness, and this year he's decided to go to Falstaff Island. But something seems different about the island this year, something dark. That 'something' shows up in the middle of the night on their 1st night there, and it's not going away easily. And neither is Tim's troop! They find themselves trapped on the island, and it slowly becomes a terror reminiscent of 'Lord Of The Flies'.
This type of Book is good for...
a case of staying awake, because you probably won't be able to go to sleep if you read this in bed!
I especially liked... | ||
the style Nick Cutter wrote this in. He even thanks and admits to borrowing Stephen King's use of interviews, newspaper clippings, and magazine profiles to help his story move along. He keeps the action moving, and the characters are well defined.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Go to the library and check out another of his books called Little Heaven, which by they way, is just as good as The Troop, if not better, in this reviewers opinion!
This Book made me feel...
very entertained. As a fellow writer of horror, I'm always looking to see how other authors work their magic, and I was really impressed with Cutter's approach to the genre.
The author of this Book...
As far as I know, this is his first book under this alias of his, but he's an acclaimed author of novels and short stories under his real name, Craig Davidson.
I recommend this Book because...
Anybody who's looking for a good book that they 'can't put down' (in the words of Stephen King), this book would be right up there on your list!
Further Comments... | ||
This is the first book of Nick Cutter's (or Craig Davidson) that I've read, and I would highly recommend him! I'm ALREADY a fan of his!
