Summary of this Book...
This book is the second in a trilogy. The first one was about a woman raised in Ireland, who travels to America to earn money to pay for her husband's hip operation. In this book, she has returned home and gone back to the rural life, opening a couple of businesses. Ellie (the main character) loves her husband, but never asks him why he didn't show up in America when she sent him a ticket and waited for him at Ellis Island (the name of the first book) In this book, Irish husband, John, has died suddenly and Ellie makes the spur of the moment decision to travel back to America during the height of the Depression. She buys houses and lets homeless people live in them in exchange for working to fix them up. The plot really didn't make much sense to me, but I'm determined to read the whole series now. I cannot, at this point, say that I recommend it as it is not a page turner. I am hoping that the third installment gets better.
