Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is a film about the legendary Michael Collins, an Irish Rebel who helped bring about the Irish Revolution and partial Independence from Britain. It takes place in the early part of the 20th Century and has lots of action and humor (Irish humor) The cast includes Liam Neeson (as Collins) Alan Rickman, Aidan Quinn and Julia Roberts. It is fast paced and full of violence and action. I have been somewhat ignorant about the extent of the violence and what people endured there. This helped me to learn about Ireland's history, which my family was a part of. Well, it was informative and a good story, but sad in the end as Michael Collins is assassinated. That seems to be the way it goes for popular Irish figures and anyone who crosses the English Ruling class.
I especially liked... | ||
Alan Rickman even though the character he played was an annoying politician. He is great at everything he does. Young Julia Roberts is wonderful too.
