Summary of this Book...
I had high hopes for this book. Maybe that was because the cover reminds me of The Girl on the Train, a great book. This book was good, but it didn't connect the dots for me. A woman is a travel writer and she is assigned to go on a cruise and write about the ship on its maiden voyage. Before the cruise, she is broken into at her flat and attacked. She survives that, but is freaked out and then on the boat, weird things start to happen. She thinks that she has witnessed a murder and then things start to disappear once she tells other passengers and crew about it. I didn't really end up thinkng that the original break in was connected to what happened later. It just set the scene for Lo's response to things. I am not sure that I totally understood what happened in the end and the reasons for it. I kept feeling that in her position things were hopeless as long as she remained on the boat. I couldn't understand why she didn't get that way before she did, especially having been broken into the way she was. I didn't get it in the end, but I felt like the writer did a good job with the suspense part, at times. At other times, things didn't really make much sense to me and there was no why or wherefore about the behavior of the characters. It wasn't a page turner and I guess I can't recommend it. I think it was a good idea with somewhat poor execution.
