Summary of this Book...
This is a biography of one of the most influential and beloved artists of the 20th Century. Charlie Chaplin created the Little Tramp, arguably the most beloved figure in movies ever to grace the world. I think he was a brave and inspiring person, although troubled in his youth and then later in his personal life. I have a problem when biographers seem to dislike their subjects. I sensed that was the case here, so I don't really recommend the book, although I learned quite a bit about Mr. Chaplin and his life. I am going to read elsewhere to see if anyone who writes about him actually appreciates all that he accomplished and all the courage he showed to the world during WWII in flying in the face of Hitler with a parody for the ages. I admire Mr. Chaplin a lot and I am a bit sad that the person who wrote this book disapproves of his subject's behavior so strongly.
