Summary of this Book...
Rose and her friend Lissa are on the run. Hiding in the human world, they are trying to escape something dark, and dangerous.

They cannot escape for long, however. Tracked down, they are taken back to St. Vladimir’s Academy, a boarding school for Moroi and Dhampirs. There, Lissa will have to learn magic and navigate the political waters she is born into. And Rose will have to learn better ways to protect Lissa.

There is a lot to worry about for Rose, if she wants to keep Lissa alive. Amongst these worries are the Strigoi, who are the stuff that nightmares are made of...

This type of Book is good for...
Teenagers, young adults, or anyone who likes a good vampire story.
I especially liked...
How the author allows her characters to be flawed. Rose, for example, isn't always likeable. Her heart is in the right place, but she's built strong walls around her, and she can be obnoxious. This is not a bad thing. All people have their good and their less good sides.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read the next book in the series - always a good sign!
This Book made me feel...
That it was better than I had expected. I'd received this book as a replacement for my original order, which was out of stock. I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is clever, and it has depth.
The author of this Book...
Has good insight into the realities of life. She's woven the themes of politics, the class system and inequality into her story without being too blatant.
I recommend this Book because...
It isn't too scary for younger readers, but it contains tension enough to keep readers of different ages entertained.
Further Comments...
I wouldn't recommend this book to readers who are too young (under the age of 12 or 13), because there are some scary moments and scenes that might be upsetting.
