The strong characters, and the warmth with which this novel is written. It may be a tale of horror, but there is a good dose of emotion and, surprisingly, hope.

Read it again, which doesn't happen often. I didn't want to part with the characters.

Thoughtful. There is a depth to this story that is not often found in novels, let alone in horror novels.

Dean Koontz has a way of stirring people's emotions, and making them think. I like that.

It is more than just a horror story. It has warmth, and mystery, and a good message that is delivered in a pleasant, non-patronising way.

This isn't a quick read. It's a nice, thick book (more than 700 pages). It's a good story to curl up with and get stuck into.
