When the Creed family move into their new home, they think it is a nice place to settle. Safe. The only danger might be the road with the occasional big truck.

Not all is as it seems, however. Of course it isn't. The land has power, dangerous, seductive and destructive.

When bad things happen, can Louis Creed resist the call of the woods? Or will he and his family become its next victims?

People who love good, old-fashioned, creepy horror.

The realistic characters. It was easy to understand their motivations, even if their actions were, at times, ill-advised.

Nothing. It is a very good story.

Creeped out, in a good way. It's a book that gives you goosebumps and makes you listen out for things that go bump in the night.

Is an excellent horror writer, and this has to be one of his best.

It has all the ingredients of a good horror story. Strong, believable characters, an eerie setting, and it taps into people's fears and feelings.

You may have seen the movie that was based on this novel. Please don't judge it on that. I thought the movie was pretty awful, more like a bad comedy than horror. The novel, however, is much better, and as creepy as you'd expect from a good horror story.
