Summary of this Book...
It is 1932. John Coffey has been accused and convicted of a terrible crime. He is placed in Cold Mountain, death row, facing his fate on the electric chair.

Paul Edgecombe is a guard on the green mile. He has many things on his mind. A health problem, a sadistic guard with high-up connections, the prisoners he is looking after.

John Coffey isn't an ordinary prisoner. He isn't an ordinary man. Paul discovers that he has special powers... powers that can change lives and ultimately reveal the truth.

But the clock is ticking...
This type of Book is good for...
Lovers of horror and lovers of drama. There is an equal dose of both.

It isn't for the fainthearted, however.
I especially liked...
The depth of the various characters. Stephen King is a master at delving into human nature and showing it all, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the downright ugly.
I didn't like...
Nothing, really. It's a beautiful story.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Cry. The ending - the entire final chapter, actually - touched me deeply.
This Book made me feel...
Sad, especially the ending. Thoughtful, too. The book shows some of the realities of death row, the justice system, and racial relations.
The author of this Book...
Stephen King is a master storyteller. He doesn't just write straightforward horror. He can stir the emotions, and can make you think without being patronising.
I recommend this Book because...
It is a beautiful, touching read. One that you will want to keep and read again.
Further Comments...
You may have seen the movie based on this novel. I still recommend reading it. Whilst the movie is good (which is a rare thing, as most movies based on King's work aren't that great), the book is far better.
