Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is a movie from the late 1940's. It stars Cary Grant and Myrna Loy as a couple who live with their two daughters in a cramped apartment (that looks huge by today's standards) in Manhattan. The parents, with the help of trusted old friend played by Melvyn Douglas set out to buy and then switch to building their dream home. It is a nightmare, but the costs are so cheap that it's laughable now. I didn't think it was hilarious or even one of Grant's best. It's an okay movie that sort of drags and is very predictable. I was a bit disappointed in it, but watching them whine about a tiny sum of money (compared to today) was pretty funny and sad at the same time. I think Cary Grant has a lot better films to recommend him than this one.
I especially liked... | ||
Melvyn Douglas. His wise guy demeanor and cool performance cracked me up.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
is a good cast, but the material sort of fails them at times.
