Summary of this Book...
This is a collection of poems that won the A. Poulin, Jr Poetry Prize. The author served six years in the Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq in 2004. The collection is about his experiences as a soldier, and it is not for the faint of heart.
This type of Book is good for...
People interested in modern free verse and/or war poetry may want to check it out.
I especially liked... | ||
My favorites include "Nostos: Quinn's Bar, Cleveland Heights" and "This Morning, We Carry Body Bags". Usually, I like to share snippets of the poems contained in a collection, but to keep this review clean enough for the average reader, I will simply suggest once more that they are not for the faint of heart but beautifully written.
