We are in the process of watching this show for the second time this year on Amazon Prime. It is a great show. We hadn't watched it since it went off the air in 2005, so we had forgotten just how good it was. The stories are so well written that they could take place today, just as well as in 1993 onward when they were first shown.

In this season Andy and Bobby Simone get closer as partners. Since Bobby is my favorite of all Andy's partners I enjoyed this season a lot. Andy is being a Dad to Theo in this season while Bobby and Diane get closer. Andy is still coming to terms with the death of Andy, Jr in the last season.

Diane has to deal with the problems in her creepy family and her own battle with alcoholism. She and Andy bond and help each other as friends throughout the series as Andy is recovering from his relapse after Andy, Jr's death.

I particularly like how the show weaves in characters like disgraced Detective Mike Roberts, who pop up again and again for years. It makes for an interesting threading together of the stories. In this season Kirkendall comes in (Andrea Thompson). I don't particularly like her, but I do like her better than the detective she replaced.

Jimmy Smits and Dennis Franz and their relationship and how it develops and how they become partners who trust one another and friends for life.

is just outstanding. They make a few bad casting decisions, but not many. You see a lot of guest stars who went on to be famous in other roles.

I love this show very much! I recommend it as it is so well written and it has a lot of humor and drama incorporated in every episode. These aren't perfect people, they are all flawed, but they have something inside them that makes them very noble at times.

It is very poignant for me to see that World Trade Center in the backdrop of just about every outside shot.
