Summary of this Video Game...
For the first time, the Super Smash Bros series finally arrives on a handheld system! Boasting a 50 character roster spanning both Nintendo's and general video game history, online modes, single player modes, and DLC content, this is one of the deepest fighting games on any handheld. Smash Bros differs from other fighting games in the fact that there is no energy gauge. Rather, the goal of Smash is to increase the opponent's damage percentage until they can be knocked off the stage for a KO. Fights take place on a wide array of stages drawn form Nintendo's history with different layouts and gimmicks on each stage. Adding another layer to the fights is various items that appear for the fighters to use, ranging to Pokeballs, Mushrooms from Mario, and an item called the Smash Ball that allows players to use a "Final Smash" which is a super move that each character possesses.
This type of Video Game is good for...
Fans of fighting games, fans of previous Smash games, Nintendo fans, 3DS owners, and anyone looking for a quality video game.
I especially liked... | ||
-The large diverse roster of the game. Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS boasts over 50 characters ranging from classic and well-known characters like Mario, Pikachu, and Link, to characters from more obscure series like Earthbound, Fire Emblem, and Metroid, to famous third-party characters like Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, Pac-Man, and Ryu. -Each character(besides the DLC characters) has custom specials that can be changed. In addition, all characters can equip custom equipment. -That your Miis can be added to the roster as custom fighters. The Miis have three classes of character to pick from, and a wide array of costumes. -The robust online mode, which includes a spectator mode where in-game gold can be bet on the outcome of matches, a "For Fun" play list, and a "For Glory" playlist that tracks wins and losses. Smash 3DS also has an online 1 on 1 mode for players who want that option. -Fun Single Player Modes that includes classic, All-Star, and various stadium modes. -A wide selection of stages, that have various layouts, gimmicks, and features. -The ability to play on "Omega" versions of all stages. This feature removes all gimmicks, and makes the stage flat with no platforms or changes in layout. -The various balance patches that attempt to balance out characters as well as add new features to the game.
I didn't like... | ||
-That Some matches online have lag that renders the game unplayable or will randomly drop players. -Custom moves are random drops and cannot be bought in the in-game store. This means that it can be difficult to finish up a character's custom moves list, especially since drops for customs that you already have can be collected again. -Coin matches are not in the 3DS version. The ability to create special matches are also not included in the 3DS version either. -That no event matches are in the 3DS version.
